What's it all about?
On the last Friday of every month, congregants are invited to gather in the Temple kitchen from 9-11am to socialize, learn challah braiding techniques, and bake challahs. Everyone goes home with challah dough to bake for their own Shabbat table, and bakers are also encouraged to participate in challah delivery to fellow Temple Menorah members. All delivery materials and information are provided, and deliveries can always be arranged to congregants in your neighborhood!
Connecting our Community
Throughout the course of a year, every Temple Menorah family will receive a challah for their Shabbat table, lovingly baked and delivered by a fellow Temple member. Deliveries are scheduled around simchas (B'nai Mitzvah, new babies, etc.) and times of need (grief or sickness). Challah deliveries are one more way that the Temple Menorah community supports its members.
Participant, Megan Cotugno:"Monthly challah baking is fun and rewarding... I have learned a lot, met new people, and really enjoyed the mitzvah of delivering homemade challahs for people's Shabbat tables."
Is Club Membership Required?
There's no club "membership" for challah baking; everyone is welcome! All that you need is a big bowl, mixing spoon, apron, and a smile. Event details are posted on the Temple Menorah Facebook page in advance, and RSVPs to Jen Molod are appreciated so that there are enough ingredients.
When do we meet?
The Challah Baking Club meets the last Friday of every month. The specific dates are listed on our events page. We encourage you to check the events page regularly to see if, for some reason, we are meeting on a different Friday than the last Friday of the month.
We look forward to welcoming you into the kitchen for the "Final Fridays" Challah Baking Club!
